Lunenburg Waterfront Opportunity
Request for Information: Zwicker Building
Have a business idea for the historic Zwicker & Co. building on Lunenburg’s working waterfront?
Waterfront Development is seeking interest from operators interested in occupying space at the Zwicker building as a tenant of part or all of the Zwicker building. We are seeking submissions for innovative and creative adaptive re-use of the Zwicker building which support working waterfront objectives including:
Maximizing the development opportunity for the site, complementing Lunenburg’s working waterfront, improving public use, access and enjoyment of the harbour edge, and providing rent to Waterfront Development for reinvestment into the development and maintenance of public assets, including the public open space and marina infrastructure.
About the Zwicker Building:
Founded in 1789, Zwicker and Company is often considered the granddaddy of Lunenburg’s waterfront businesses, running continuously for nearly 200 years, with generation after generation of Zwickers at the helm.
Located at 146 Bluenose Drive, the Zwicker building is situated on Lunenburg’s working waterfront and within the UNESCO designated World Heritage site. Recent improvements to the public space, wharf and recreational marine infrastructure on the site have created an active location with public access to the waterfront from both land and sea. Learn more about the recent investment in Zwicker.
Waterfront Development owns and manages a portfolio of properties on the Lunenburg waterfront on behalf of the province, including the Zwicker site. Working closely with the Town of Lunenburg and the Lunenburg Waterfront Association, the goal is to continue to redevelop and revitalize the working waterfront.Click here for the RFI link.
