EVENT: Splendour in the Park Lights-On Celebration
DATE: Friday, November 17, 2017
TIME: 6-8 pm
LOCATION: Cornwallis Park, 1181 Hollis Street, Halifax
The Halifax Lights Festival is a month-long celebration of the holiday season in Downtown Halifax from November 17 to December 21. The Festival’s anchor attraction is a winter-themed, nightly interactive light show, called Splendour in the Park, which will take over Cornwallis Park. DHBC received $16,150 from Deputy Mayor Waye Mason’s Participatory Budgeting in District 7 towards the light installation, which will remain up until mid-January 2018.
The park will also host a full program of family-friendly activities and events during the day and evening, including: visits from Santa and Rudolph, sing-alongs, carolling, ice sculpting demos, Silent Disco Party, pet portraits with Kris Kringle, and a petting zoo – just to name a few. All events are free and open to the public. Other activities and events taking place throughout the Downtown area include roaming carollers, holiday promotions and specials at the local businesses, Chili Warm-Up and Family Fun on the newly transformed Argyle Street, and a few surprises throughout the Festival.
