Cunard Block Conceptual Design (Halifax)
As of October 2011, Waterfront Development staff have received very positive feedback from the general public and development community on the development concepts presented in June 2011 and there is considerable interest in the project. More Details…

Sackville Landing Recapitalization Project
Waterfront Development and Halifax Regional Municipality are partnering to enhance Sackville Landing on the Halifax waterfront.
Project highlights include:
• Creation of a timber boardwalk at the water’s edge and refurbishment of “The Wave”
• Enhanced landscape and water views
• Reconfiguration of the landscaped features to help make the area more accessible and useable for the public
Public access to the boardwalk and nearby locations will be maintained. Temporary public walkway detours will be in place from time-to-time.
This project is expected to be substantially complete by the end of June, 2012.
Sands at Salter
About one third, or an acre, of the site located at the end of Salter Street, next to Bishop’s Landing, is now converted into green space as a temporary use and called Sands at Salter. More Details…

WDC has awarded the development rights for the private sector portions of the Queen’s Landing Project to Armour Group Limited. More Details…
Tour Boat Centre Recapitalization
Renovations and site improvements were completed at the Tour Boat Centre site in 2010 to increase animation and services on the Halifax Harbourwalk. New tenants provide unique shopping opportunities and the new timber deck provides improved access to the water’s edge.
George and Prince Street Streetscape Improvements (Halifax)
Initiating, in partnership with the municipality, improvement to the public realm in these important corridors connecting the waterfront and the downtown.
Marine Infrastructure
Continuation of a multi-year capital upgrade plan for public marine infrastructure.
Nathan Green Square Upgrades
Waterfront Development, in partnership with HRM, worked together to rejuvenate Nathan Greene Square improving connectivity, openness and amenities at this popular Halifax waterfront destination. The infrastructure improvement project was completed in the spring of 2011.
Children’s Playground—Halifax Waterfront
After nearly 30 years of use, the well-loved children’s playground on the Halifax Waterfront is now home to a new Nova Scotia built wooden submarine and underwater garden wall . More Details….
South Battery Pier
The redevelopment of the South Battery Pier open space will create a place where people can discover part of Halifax’s port history, experience new architectural installations, and enjoy views of the Halifax Harbour while encouraging public access at the water’s edge — from concerts to quiet exploration.
Ectug Boardwalk Upgrades
The boardwalk decking in the area around the Ectug wharves has been replaced with new timber deck. This refurbishment will help ensure safe access to the water’s edge along the Halifax boardwalk.
Visitor Information Centre
A new public washroom facility is now located in the Visitor Information Centre on the Halifax waterfront.
Cable Wharf Boardwalk Upgrade and Interpretation Project
Upgrades in front of The Cable Wharf building include the construction of a 100-foot timber boardwalk that provides another link for the public in the continuation of the Halifax Harbourwalk. More Details…
Summit Boardwalk
The Summit Boardwalk repair project included repair and replacement of decking, wheel guards and other substructure along the Halifax Harbourwalk seawall. More Details…
Patio Development Project
The public seating area behind the kiosks at Queen’s Landing Market on the Halifax waterfront is now extended out at the water’s edge. This popular spot features additional seating on a new two level timber deck, allowing the public to further experience enhanced water views.
Public Art
Waterfront Development staff continue to work on developing an enhanced multi-year public art program that will add interest and vibrancy to the public outdoor spaces around the Halifax Harbour.
