Tall Ships Nova Scotia is both vibrant and captivating in Halifax. Here, the ships gather for a weekend of events, and it is from Halifax Harbour that they leave in the grand Parade of Sail for ports across the province.
We’re bringing the best of Nova Scotia to our waterfronts alongside majestic Tall Ships.
Culinary
In partnership with Taste of Nova Scotia, Sands at Salter on the Halifax waterfront will be transformed into a culinary centerpiece. Local cuisine, culinary artisans and celebrity chef demonstrations highlight a program that reflects our passion for food – an opportunity to indulge in Nova Scotia’s finest culinary experiences and feel proud to share them with the world.
Music
A Nova Scotia celebration would be complete without song. And Tall Ships is turning up the volume. With performances for young and old, on land and in the centre of the sea, partnerships with CBC and Captain Morgan will deliver a world-class entertainment program. Bring your dancing shoes and celebrate with some of our best musicians and personalities.
Heritage
Together with Parks Canada and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, with period Tall Ships as a backdrop, we will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 in a stunning glimpse into life during this important time in our history. Little known stories of maritime battles, interactive re-enactments, music and military spectacles will flavour the festival with our history.
Marine
Tour the decks, meet the crews and hear the stories of their world voyages – they’re yours to experience throughout the festival. Or just stand alongside and take in the magic and romance of some of the most beautiful and historic ships in the world. And this year, our marine program also features our local ships – harbour partners whose work is a driver of our economy and a symbol of our maritime culture.
Children
An unprecedented collection of entertainment and educational experiences for the whole family in Dartmouth and Halifax. And who is making the connection? Theodore Tugboat, of course! All aboard to experience something special on both sides of the Harbour. Storytelling, puppet shows, and exciting things to explore. Fireworks to end the day will lead to nightly films at the water’s edge.
